my spud cannon

well,this is my spud cannon. it has a 1" bore,and is about 25" long. it

will fore a 1" round of spud about 100 meteres! for fuel,i use

deodorant.what happens is that a spark inside the chamber ignites the

fuel,shooting the spud out. link to a video coming soon!

finishing touches

i then set up the electronics,put the whole thing together,and tested it.

it worked good,so i pulled it all apart again and painted it:

i then finished painting the headstock,sanded down the neck and fitted the scratchplate:

i still have to varnish the neck,do a bit of touch-up painting and paint a maltese cross on the back of it.it has very long sustain,but is very heavy! it has a very rich tone,and is suprisingly comfortable to play.

i had an old acoustic 12-string guitar neck lying around,so i thought i could make a guitar around it. i origionally made a body out of solid wood,but i made too many mistakes and decided to start again with three sheets of mdf glued together as a laminate. the neck i found turned out to be useless,as it was split,so i ended up making one out of kauri. together,they look like this:

i scavanged the fretboard from the old neck,and made the black bit at the left of the guitar,called the tailpeice,where the strings are anchored. the silver bit next to it,called the bridge,cost $40.
Also, i managed to salvage the truss rod from the old neck,which is a metal rod that stops the neck flexing with the tension of the strings on it.

i will post pictures as i make it.the neck is made of kauri,and the body is made of a man-made fibre-board called mdf. i couldnt find a single sheet of the right thickness,so i am making the body out of three layers of 12mm mdf glued together. i will keep posting,so keep checking!

the title says it all: this IS my blog. I haven't had much experience in writing blogs,in fact this is my first.This is the story of my life:

BORN: January 26th,1991.

DIED: I'm not dead yet.

OCCUPATION: I am a student.

HOBBIES: I like welding,engineering,woodwork,playing my XBOX,playing guitars,and shooting .22 rifles in the smallbore club I'm in.

LIKES: Money,my tv and stereo,working out,camping,METALLICA(hehe).

DISLIKES: Being broke,Gamecubes.

MY FUTURE CAREER: Being rich,nah,not really......probably a mechanic,welder or computer technician.
